Sunday Morning Musings
I can't really explain why, but I feel like it's an unspoken truth that if you watch The Contender you most likely voted for Bush. It's like those magnetic ribbon things, while seemingly neutral, it's really a conservative statement.
Yesterday, Eileen happened to mention that she will be 24 in a few months which sent me into a panic since I will be 24 a couple weeks after her. I am not ready for the transition into my mid-twenties.
The director at work is the Dick Van Dyke of social services because at every training thus far he has tripped over some object in the room.
I have been disappointed lately with books endings. I have read two really good books lately, but both authors seemed to have rushed through the endings and try to tie everything up. Maybe it's just dissapointment that the book is ending. Anyway I still recommend them:
*The Red Tent by Anita Diamant...A classic book club book that lives up to the hype. It tells the story of Dinah the only daughter of Jacob from the Old Testement, who had twelve sons (the twelve tribes of Israel) including Joseph and his fierce coat. The story is based off of one passage in the Bible, and I think she does a good job filling in the blanks. This story is very appropriate for women's history month because it's main theme is the strength of women.
*The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri...Long story short a novel that tells the story of a boy born in America to Indian parents but given a Russian name and his struggle with who he really is. Jhumpa (yes, we're on first name basis) is one of the best writers I have ever read. I was just disappointed in the way the main character's life turned out.
